UnitedHealth Group Inc. acquires payment integrity provider Equian from its private-equity owner New Mountain Capital for about $3.2 billion. Equian delivers payment integrity solutions through proprietary content, enabling technology, and highly responsive customer service. 

UnitedHealth Group Acquires Personalized Health Network PatientsLikeMe

UnitedHealth Group acquired PatientsLikeMe, a personalized health network, according to an email confirmation from CNBC. The acquisition comes off the reports in April that PatientsLikeMe was being forced by Trump administration’s Committee of Foreign investment over its Chinese majority owner Tencent.

Dassault Systèmes Acquires Clinical Trial Platform Medidata for $5.8B

French technology giant Dassault Systèmes acquired Medidata, a life sciences digital transformation company in an all-cash deal for $92.25 per share valued at $5.8 billion. With the acquisition of Medidata and its clinical and commercial solutions, Dassault Systèmes plans to increase market penetration into the Life Sciences industry with an integrated business experience platform for an end-to-end approach to research and discovery, development, clinical testing, manufacturing, and commercialization of new therapies and health technologies.

JPMorgan Chase Acquires Healthcare Payments Solution InstaMed

JPMorgan Chase & Co., acquires InstaMed, a Philadelphia-based healthcare payment network provider connecting providers, payers, and consumers on one platform. The acquisition will expand the bank’s suite of payment services designed specifically for healthcare consumers, providers, and payers.

Apple Quietly Acquires Childhood Asthma Monitoring Startup Tueo Health

Apple quietly acquired Tueo Health, a digital health startup developing a solution to assist parents in monitoring asthma-related symptoms in sleeping children. Founded in 2015, the name Tueo (“too-ee-oh”) comes from a Latin word meaning to observe, care for, and maintain. The digital health solution features a non-contact, under-the-mattress sensor that passively measures key physiologic parameters while a child is asleep.

AMN Healthcare to Acquire Advanced Medical for $200M

AMN Healthcare Services, Inc. (AMN), a nationwide healthcare workforce solution and staffing services acquire Advanced Medical Personnel Services, Inc. (Advanced) for $200 million. Advanced is an innovative healthcare staffing company that specializes in placing therapists and nurses in contract positions across multiple settings including hospitals, schools, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. 

Allscripts Acquires Prescription & Prior Authorization Platform ZappRx

EHR vendor Allscripts acquired prescription and prior authorization platform ZappRx to help Allscripts diversify its business outside of electronic medical records (EHR). The company has raised a total of $40M in funding to date.

Founded in 2012 by Zoe Barry who previously worked at athenahealth, ZappRx streamlines the complex process required to order specialty medications, increasing efficiencies when collecting and maintaining the myriad requisite information for ordering specialty drugs — including pharmacy information, payer/prior authorization requirements, and relevant clinical history. 

Datica, Sansoro Health Merge to Offer Self-Service Platform for Cloud-based Healthcare Apps

Sansoro Health, Inc. and Datica Health, LLC merge to offer a self-service platform for securing cloud-based applications and integrating patient data from multiple sources. The combined company is solving these problems today for an impressive list of customers; including Johnson & Johnson, VigiLanz, Vineti, and more.

Providence St. Joseph Health Acquires Epic Consulting Firm Bluetree

Providence St. Joseph Health, a national, not-for-profit Catholic health system, announced acquired Bluetree, an Epic consulting and strategy company that helps health care providers maximize their use of technology. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, and with offices in Denver and New York, Bluetree’s integrated team approach helps health care providers realize higher returns from their Epic EHR platform investment.

Waystar Acquires Presumptive Charity Scoring Solution PARO

Waystar, a provider of revenue cycle technologyacquiredPARO, a financial assistance predictive analytics solution designed for the healthcare industry. As part of the acquisition, the PARO solution will be integrated with Waystar’s technology platform to help hospitals better assess charity care, reduce bad debt and meet community benefit requirements.

Harris Healthcare Group Acquires Clinical Communications Platform Uniphy Health

Harris Computer Systems (“Harris”), acquired Uniphy Health, an enterprise clinical communication, and collaboration platform through its Healthcare group. The acquisition will help extend Harris’ suite of clinical solutions in the acute and post-acute care settings to offer new ways to improve care coordination, physician and patient engagement.

CareDx Acquires OTTR for $16M to Enable EMR Integrations at Transplant Centers

CareDx, Inc., a molecular diagnostics company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of clinically differentiated, high-value diagnostic solutions for transplant patients acquired OTTR Complete Transplant Management (“OTTR”), a provider of organ transplant patient tracking software.

CPSI Acquires Patient Engagement Company Get Real Health for $11M

CPSI, a community healthcare solutions company acquired Get Real Health, a Rockville, MD-based comprehensive patient engagement platform for $11 million in cash. CPSI is the parent of three companies – Evident, LLC, American HealthTech, Inc. and TruBridge, LLC. The acquisition allows CPSI to advance their ability to care for patients outside the walls of a community healthcare facility.

CentralReach Acquires Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy Software Pathfinder Health Innovations

CentralReach, a provider of EHR and practice management solutions that enable Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for therapy acquiredPathfinder Health Innovations (PHI), a practice management and data collection software solution designed for small to medium-sized (SMB) businesses. The acquisition increases CentralReach’s market share and is expected to provide SMB organizations with a quick-start and easy-to-use solution to gain immediate operational efficiencies.
