What You Should Know:

– DispatchHealth and Medically Home have announced a definitive agreement to merge, forming the nation’s most comprehensive provider of advanced medical care within the comfort of patients’ homes.

– Upon the deal’s completion, Medically Home will become a part of DispatchHealth, significantly expanding the reach of at-home healthcare services.

Merger Impact

This strategic merger positions the combined entity to deliver a full spectrum of care, ranging from same-day treatment for serious health concerns to complex, hospital-level care, to patients across 50 major metropolitan areas. They will operate in partnership with nearly 40 health systems, most major health plans, and value-based care organizations.

The merger comes at a critical time as healthcare costs surge, hospitals grapple with capacity challenges, and patients increasingly express a preference for home-based care. The hospital-at-home market is experiencing rapid growth, projected to reach $300B by 2028, driven by its potential to improve patient outcomes and enhance cost efficiency.

The combined organization will be capable of reducing the total cost of care by up to 30% over a 30-day period, while simultaneously improving patient outcomes. By providing advanced care at home, the merged entity anticipates freeing up more than 62,000 bed days, alleviating strain on health systems and improving patient access to high-quality care.

The merger is expected to close by mid-year 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Healthcare demands innovative solutions that align clinical excellence with financial sustainability,” said Jennifer Webster, CEO for DispatchHealth. “We’ve proven the home can be an extension of the hospital while improving the quality of care. This merger brings together two complementary pioneers in hospital-level care at home, accelerating our ability to expand access, lower costs, drive value, and improve capacity for health systems across the country.”
