On Monday at the White House Conference on Aging, EHR leader Epic Systems announced it will create a clinical decision support tool (CDS) too for patient falls prevention based on CDC’s guidelines. The CDS tool is expected to be available to all Epic clients by the end of the year designed to make it easier for health care providers to screen for falls, intervene to reduce risk, and provide follow-up care.
Additionally, it was announced that Kaiser Permanente will implement the CDC’s evidence-based falls prevention tool, known as STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries) across all of its regions and make Kaiser’s evidence-based falls prevention program widely available to other health systems and health plans.
The conference focuses on the issues facing Americans as they plan for retirement, care for older loved ones, and work to improve our quality of life as we age.
