Global wearables provider Fitbit, today launched Fitbit Care, a connected health platform for employers, health plans and health systems that combines health coaching and virtual care through the new Fitbit Plus™ app, Fitbit’s innovative wearable devices, and self-tracking and personalized digital interventions to help improve wellness, disease management, and prevention.
With the introduction of Fitbit Care, Fitbit is delivering on its commitments to expand the company’s healthcare offerings and non-device revenue by delivering a solution that helps to address some of the most common and costly health conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
People enrolled in the health coaching component of Fitbit Care through their employer, health plan or healthcare system can engage directly with the platform through a new app: Fitbit Plus, which supports the integration of more advanced health metrics including blood glucose, blood pressure or medication adherence for tracking alongside health data from Fitbit and other third-party connected devices. This app allows users to see critical health data conveniently in one place to better understand trends over time.
“With Fitbit Care, we are delivering a solution that empowers people to take control of their health, by providing the accountability, support, guidance, and resources that remove some of the most difficult barriers to behavior change,” said Dr. John Moore, Medical Director, Fitbit Health Solutions. “Supporting patients beyond the walls of the doctor’s office is one of the most important things we can do to drive successful outcomes, and as a clinician, I see great potential for Fitbit Care to help tackle some of the biggest challenges in healthcare and improve health outcomes at scale.”
Humana Selects Fitbit Care
Fitbit also announced that Humana Inc. has selected Fitbit Care as the preferred coaching solution for its employer group segment, and more than five million Humana members will have the potential to access Fitbit health coaching or wellness solutions.
Partners since 2013, Fitbit and Humana’s decision to expand their partnership reflects the companies’ continued commitment to driving healthy behavior change and reducing the occurrence of preventable chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. The health coaching solution from Fitbit Care will provide Humana members across the U.S. with the support and guidance to help members make the lifestyle changes necessary to better manage chronic and complex diseases while creating stronger connections between the participants and entire care team.
Fitbit and Humana also announced today the availability of the Humana Go365® clock face on Fitbit Versa™ and Fitbit Ionic™ devices, making members’ Go365 activity data accessible right from the wrist. Since 2013, members have used their Go365 Points to redeem more than 170,000 Fitbit devices to help them continue to manage their health. With the new clock face, members will be able to track their health data, such as their daily and weekly step progress toward their goals, and update their Go365 Status directly on their device. This makes it easier than ever to stay accountable for their health and fitness goals.
Go365 is a personalized wellness rewards and incentives program that provides tools and support to help members lead healthier lives and employers reduce costs related to healthcare and lost productivity.
