Here is a list of a few healthy objects and apps to make you more accountable for your care and your family’s care –

Internet connected devices for diabetes and blood management —

Thermometer & Fertility —

(Some interesting insight, these are now FDA approved devices. )

  • Bellabeat, hear your baby’s heart beat

The connected environment —

  • dropcam, a remote video and audio monitoring, great to monitor elderly parents or infants from other rooms
  • nest thermostat, monitor and change room temperatures for sick patients and family members
  • lockitron, lock and unlock doors remotely, this is great for letting a patient care team (e.g. physicians and nurses) into an elderly persons home without lifting a finger

Beyond just the devices, must have health apps —

  • Apple Health, manages wellness and health data to other apps, per-installed iOS 8 on iPhone
  • onpatient, a personal health record management app, allows doctors and patients to share data
  • BetterDoctor, find a doctor when you need one from an iPhone

In summary, the “Internet of Healthy Things” will make us more educated; improve data quality, health management, trend identification, motivation, adherence, and accountability. Health objects, apps and devices are stealing headlines left and right.

Pedometers, heart rate trackers, blood-oxygen sensors and the like that have existed for years and only now, we are finally putting that data into the cloud.
