Babyscripts Inks $500k Strategic Partnership with Inova Health

– Aetna Better Health of Pennsylvania, Aetna’s Medicaid managed care organization in Pennsylvania enters a strategic partnership with Babyscripts.

– Strategic partnership will enable Aetna Better Health of Pennsylvania to deliver pregnancy care solutions to plan members at participating WellSpan Health sites using Babyscripts prenatal application.

– New point of care model allows low-risk pregnant patients to receive the benefits of remote monitoring and virtual care.

Aetna Better Health of Pennsylvania, Aetna’s Medicaid managed care organization in Pennsylvania announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Babyscripts, a virtual care platform for managing obstetrics to deliver pregnancy care solutions to plan members at participating WellSpan Health sites. This strategic partnership, fueled by the Babyscripts app, will focus on increasing access to care via a new point of care model that allows low-risk pregnant patients to receive the benefits of remote monitoring and virtual care.

Available at Participating WellSpan Health Provider Sites

This new model of care will be available for Aetna’s Medicaid members in Pennsylvania at participating WellSpan Health provider sites. The model brings together the payer and the provider to collaborate on addressing patient risks by making data that is typically available to a provider available to the payer care management team for real-time risk-identification and intervention.

This partnership with Babyscripts is a wonderful opportunity for women and providers to work together to support the pregnancy journey “, said Jason Rottman, CEO of Aetna Better Health. “At Aetna, we care about keeping people healthy and making sure they get the care and early intervention they need. This collaboration is an important step towards doing just that.”

Point of Care Model Support Aetna’s Medicaid Members Throughout Their Pregnant Journey

UM St. Joseph Taps Prenatal App Babyscripts for Remote Pregnancy Care

The Babyscripts platform can support Aetna’s Medicaid members throughout their pregnancy journey. Using internet-connected devices for remote monitoring, Babyscripts offers risk-specific experiences that enable providers to manage up to 90% of pregnancies virtually, allowing doctors to detect risk more quickly and automate elements of care. Available in both English and Spanish, the Babyscripts app provides gestational age-appropriate content, mother, and baby health tips and information, appointment reminders and weight monitoring. The Babyscripts app also delivers evidence-based guidelines approved by the patient’s obstetrician in the form of daily nutritional, medical and lifestyle action items.

Mothers will be able to use the Babyscripts app and devices to stay connected to their care team and informed about their pregnancy, and send health data remotely and securely to their health care provider, providing additional flexibility and transparency between moms and clinical teams.

Bluetooth Enabled Blood Pressure Cuff

One innovative feature is a Bluetooth enabled blood pressure cuff.  Megan, from Reading, PA was directed to go to the hospital after a trigger on the cuff sent an alert to her provider. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with severe pre-eclampsia and had a C-section that day. “Babyscripts saved my life and it saved my daughter’s life,” she says.

Why It Matters

”The new model for managing pregnancy is unique because it is delivered at the point of care, but also includes the payer into the equation, something that the industry hasn’t been done before,” said Juan Pablo Segura, Co-founder and President of Babyscripts. “We know that collaboration between stakeholders and strategic ecosystems is key to improving outcomes, and this partnership with Aetna is huge step on the path to eliminating access issues for vulnerable populations.”
