Allscripts is expanding its patient administration system presence in the United Kingdom with recent agreements from East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust to deploy Allscripts PASTM. As part of the agreement, the Allscripts PAS will replace the Trusts’ existing system and will empower the health organizations to use a highly flexible and configurable solution to manage patient data. Allscripts PAS is currently used across the National Health Service (NHS) in more than a dozen trusts and hospitals.
These deployments reflect Allscripts continued expansion and progress in the UK. Last month, the company was awarded a place on the NHS SBS Clinical Information Systems Framework. The Framework can help NHS Trusts by providing access to critical technology like the solutions Allscripts’ offer, reducing procurement costs and enabling the NHS Trusts to localize their requirements. Allscripts was named in five of the six SBS categories.
“At Maidstone and Tunbridge, patients are our number-one focus, and we look forward to further enhancing their experience through Allscripts PAS,” said Angela Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer. “The integrated workflow and the flexibility of the solution will enable our organisation to continually improve the efficiency of our care and make smarter decisions for our patients.”
Despite the growth in the UK, Allscripts has eliminated 250 jobs in the United States representing about 3.5 percent of its global workforce of about 7,200. The layoffs reportedly stem from the the company expanding its software development and operations to India that will enable it to respond “more efficiently and cost-effectively” to changes in software design and product development.
Allscripts reported revenue totaled $335 million, a decline of 2 percent in Q1 2015, compared with $340 million in the first quarter of 2014.
