What You Should Know:

– Abridge, a provider of generative AI solutions for healthcare launches Abridge Inside for Emergency Medicine, a new suite of enhancements designed specifically for the fast-paced and demanding environment of emergency care.

– The solution integrates seamlessly with Epic’s ASAP module in Haiku and Hyperspace, transforming high-pressure clinical conversations into structured notes and reducing administrative burden on emergency medicine clinicians.

Addressing Clinician Burnout in Emergency Medicine

Burnout is a significant challenge in healthcare, particularly in emergency medicine, where clinicians face high-pressure situations and demanding workloads. According to a 2024 Medscape survey, emergency medicine clinicians experience the highest burnout rate of any specialty, at 63%.

Abridge Inside for Emergency Medicine aims to alleviate this burden by automating documentation tasks and freeing up clinicians to focus on patient care. By reducing administrative workload and improving efficiency, Abridge helps to improve clinician well-being and job satisfaction.

Key features of Abridge Inside for Emergency Medicine include:

ASAP and Haiku Integration: Clinicians can initiate ambient recording directly from the department’s Track Board within Haiku, streamlining workflows and saving valuable time.

Purpose-Built AI: Abridge’s advanced automatic speech recognition models accurately detect medical specialties, languages, and multiple speakers, ensuring accurate transcription and comprehensive clinical documentation.

Reduced Documentation Burden: Clinicians using Abridge report an 86% reduction in note-writing effort, 60% less after-hours documentation work, and a 55% reduction in burnout.

“Abridge Inside for Emergency Medicine was developed in close collaboration with Epic as part of the Workshop program,” said Dr. Shiv Rao, CEO and Founder of Abridge. “There continues to be a strong collaborative effort to build new generative AI capabilities within Epic workflows. This trailblazing partnership will continue with the inpatient module that’s in development and nearly ready for beta testing.”
