Ginger, on-demand access to behavioral health coaching, video therapy, video psychiatry, and self-guided content has acquired the technology assets of LiveBetter, a free mental health conversational app experience paired with engaging, evidence-based activities. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded in 2015 by Mike Nolet (former co-founder/CTO of AppNexus), LiveBetter’s mission is to use technology, at scale, to help people around the world be happier, healthier, and more fulfilled in their everyday lives. The company’s free interactive, conversational app experience paired with engaging, evidence-based activities is proven to decrease stress, boost confidence and support people with challenges including anxiety, stress, and self-confidence.
Available on Google Play and The App Store, the conversational app features a digital coach that will text the user and provide quick, 2-minute chats about your well-being designed to help users think more positively to deal with stress, get better sleep, etc. To date, LiveBetter reaches over 10,000 users and continues to reach more individuals every day – young adults, the unemployed, new parents, and the homeless.
LiveBetter Integration with Ginger’s Platform
As part of the acquisition, Ginger will integrate LiveBetter’s technology behind LiveBetter’s conversational app with its existing platform to extend its customer base. In addition, the company will be converted from a for-profit enterprise to a 501(c)3 recognized non-profit that will grant a perpetual license to the LiveBetter non-profit to continue operating the LiveBetter App for free. Ginger will continue to offer its free services to those who can’t afford or do not have access to mental healthcare.
