What You Should Know:

–   Sovato, a company enabling healthcare organizations to implement and scale remote robotic surgery and procedure programs (also known as telesurgery), today announced the close of its Series B, bringing total funding to $41 million.

–    Growth-stage venture capital firm Beringea led the round, with significant follow-on investments from existing investors. Notable participants include founding investor Polaris Partners, Intuitive, GS Ventures, Laerdal Million Lives Fund, Puma Venture Capital, Teladoc Health, and other private investors.

Sovato Pioneers Global Access to Remote Robotic Surgery with Scalable, System-Agnostic Platform

Sovato is redefining access to surgical care through its mission to make advanced procedures available to everyone, everywhere. Headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, the company is the first to offer a comprehensive platform that enables safe, scalable, and economically sustainable remote surgery and procedural programs for healthcare organizations worldwide. It was co-founded by Cynthia Perazzo, MBA, and robotics pioneer Yulun Wang, PhD—founder of Computer Motion (merged with Intuitive Surgical) and InTouch Health (acquired by Teladoc Health).

The newly secured funding will accelerate the evolution of Sovato’s platform and strengthen strategic alliances with surgical robotics manufacturers, healthcare providers, and key ecosystem partners. With the global robotic surgery market expected to expand by 12.4% annually through 2030 and more than 246 companies now competing in the field, Sovato’s system-agnostic solution stands apart. Its technology can remote-enable any robotic system—surgical, interventional, or diagnostic—allowing physicians to operate across distances and positioning Sovato at the forefront of a transformative era in healthcare delivery.

“Today, more than half the world’s population lacks access to timely, safe surgical care, while in the U.S., millions still travel long distances for routine procedures—a challenge that will only intensify as surgeon shortages grow,” said Cynthia Perazzo, Co-Founder and CEO of Sovato. “Remote robotic surgery programs empower healthcare systems to extend the reach of skilled surgeons and care teams, creating a more sustainable and equitable model for delivering high-quality care.”

Establishing Standards Through Collaboration
Sovato has already validated the safety and feasibility of remote robotic surgery through successful preclinical cases conducted across hundreds to thousands of miles—both within the U.S. and internationally. These demonstrations prove that expert surgical care can be safely extended through a true hub-and-spoke model, connecting specialists to patients wherever they are.

The company is now collaborating with leading healthcare institutions and robotics innovators to define the clinical, operational, and technical frameworks that will guide the next generation of remote robotic surgery. By setting these global standards, Sovato aims to enable the safe, effective, and widespread adoption of remote surgical capabilities—advancing access, efficiency, and equality in healthcare worldwide.
