Bayer initially partnered with Blackford in 2020 through a licensing and development deal, and later acquired the company in 2023. Since then, Blackford has operated as an independent subsidiary, with its platform featuring over 150 third-party AI applications from over 60 developers
According to a Bayer spokesperson, the company made the decision to “deprioritize its digital platform business” after a careful evaluation of market insights, technical considerations, and customer needs. Resources from this division will be reinvested into other growth areas.
Bayer has committed to fulfilling existing contractual agreements and will have a dedicated team in place to support the transition. The company also stated its commitment to “innovation in the digital space” remains strong, and it will continue to engage with customers and partners to drive advancements in clinical imaging and AI technologies.
