What You Should Know:

– Sharp HealthCare, the largest integrated health system in San Diego, is set to implement the Abridge generative AI platform across its enterprise.

– The implementation will streamline the creation of medical documentation, ensuring it is comprehensive, compliant, and billable, thereby enabling clinicians to dedicate their full attention to patient care. Abridge’s technology will be deployed throughout Sharp HealthCare locations, which collectively serve over one million patients annually.

Abridge’s Contextual Reasoning Engine

Abridge’s platform uses its Contextual Reasoning Engine, an AI architecture, to generate compliant, structured, and billable notes in real-time during patient care. This capability is designed to support clinicians and health systems in accurately capturing the value of the care they provide.

Data from a pilot program, where Abridge was rigorously tested across various specialties, languages, and care settings within Sharp HealthCare, revealed significant improvements:

  • 83% reduction in note-writing effort
  • 83% increase in work satisfaction among clinicians
  • 75% increase in note quality

The pilot study also reported a self-reported 10% increase in clinicians’ ability to see additional patients requiring urgent attention.

“Enterprise-grade healthcare AI removes barriers between patients and clinicians and delivers ROI for healthcare systems,” said Dr. Shiv Rao, CEO and Founder of Abridge. “The clinicians and AI scientists who designed Abridge understand the anxiety creating compliant, billable documentation can cause among clinicians—our mission is to relieve that burden so they can focus on delivering exceptional patient care.”
