– The program, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), provides researchers with free access to Komodo’s Healthcare Map™, a vast repository of de-identified patient data, to study the impact of diet on health outcomes.
Advancing Research and Improving Health Equity
The DRH program supports diverse research projects focused on understanding the complex relationship between diet and health. The winning proposals for 2024 address a range of critical topics, including:
- Diabetes and Food Insecurity: Researchers at Tufts University will investigate the impact of social safety net programs and food insecurity on patients with type 2 diabetes.
- Equity in Obesity Care: Researchers at Boston University will examine how new anti-obesity medications are impacting treatment utilization and access among different subgroups.
- Nutritional Support for Lung Cancer Patients: Oregon State University researchers will study the relationship between nutritional support and survival in lung cancer patients, with a focus on health equity.
- Urologic Disease and Obesity: Researchers at SUNY Downstate will investigate the links between obesity and urologic conditions, the impact of weight loss interventions, and racial disparities in treatment access.
- Computer-Aided Diabetes Care: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center will develop AI-powered tools to identify risk factors for diabetes complications and evaluate preventive therapies.
