CareYaya Unveils AI-Powered Smart Glasses to Assist Dementia Patients

What You Should Know:

– CareYaya Health Technologies, a leading innovator in AI-powered solutions for the aging population, has launched MedaCareLLM, a new AI platform designed to assist individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

– Integrated into smart glasses, MedaCareLLM offers real-time support and enhances the quality of life for those navigating the challenges of cognitive decline.

MedaCareLLM: The AI That Prompts You

Developed as part of the OpenMind Project, MedaCareLLM utilizes a multimodal dataset of cognitive and neurological data collected through smart glasses. This AI platform leverages facial recognition, object recognition, and other advanced technologies to provide immediate assistance to users.

Key features and benefits of MedaCareLLM include:

  • Facial Recognition: Identifies familiar faces and provides prompts to the wearer through bone-conduction earphones or hearing aids, assisting with memory recall and reducing social anxiety.
  • Object Recognition: Helps with object identification around the home, promoting safety and independence.
  • Medication Reminders: Reads medication labels and provides reminders about dosage and timing, preventing accidental overdoses and improving medication adherence.
  • Enhanced Quality of Life: Empowers individuals with dementia to maintain independence and engage more confidently in daily activities.
  • Caregiver Support: Reduces the burden on caregivers by providing automated support and reminders for patients.

“We want to address the significant gap in dementia research, particularly with Black older adults, who are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s compared to White populations but are currently underrepresented in clinical trials and research studies,” said Neal K. Shah, CEO and co-founder of CareYaya Health Technologies. “MedaCareLLM will aid us in our mission to level the playing field for ADRD research and eventually provide pharmaceutical companies with a more diverse dataset to advance Alzheimer’s treatment research.”
