FHIR-based APIs Health Gorilla Becomes Largest CommonWell Connector

What You Need to Know:

– FHIR-based API Provider Health Gorilla is now the largest CommonWell Connector by connecting more than 15k participating provider sites within the CommonWell nationwide network.

– Health Gorilla was the first CommonWell member to join the CommonWell Connector program, and subsequently, had the first client live via a CommonWell Connector connection

Health Gorilla, a provider of FHIR-based APIs, today announced that it has successfully connected more than a dozen healthcare organizations to the CommonWell Health Alliance network. Health Gorilla is the first live CommonWell Connector™, which enables their clients to connect with more than 15,000 participating provider sites within the CommonWell nationwide network.

Health Gorilla’s FHIR-based API allows digital health developers to retrieve comprehensive clinical data from participating hospitals and clinics to facilitate patient care without having to do direct integrations. Among the newly connected organizations are DrChrono, MDPortals, and WellVia. DrChrono is one of the largest EMR and technology platforms among medical practices. MDPortals provides health systems with a complete longitudinal health record to physicians and proactively flags critical care updates. WellVia connects patients to board-certified physicians and behavioral health specialists through phone, mobile devices, and video.

Health Gorilla was the first CommonWell member to join the CommonWell Connector program, and subsequently, had the first client live via a CommonWell Connector connection. Digital health companies that adopt Health Gorilla’s Patient360 API can connect to CommonWell instantly and embed querying functionality into their own products. By using APIs, developers can control their user experience and drive innovative workflows, while accessing the data they need to improve patient care.

“The CommonWell Connector program was created in 2019 to expand the reach and value of the CommonWell network,” said Paul L. Wilder, Executive Director of CommonWell Health Alliance. “We applaud Health Gorilla for its leadership as the first CommonWell Connector and for helping increase health data access for providers and patients nationwide.”
