Riverside University Health System (RUHS) in Moreno Valley, California will reportedly spend $53 million to implement Epic’s EHR in its 439-bed medical center, 10 health centers and several primary and specialty clinics throughout Riverside Country, according to InternetHealthManagement. The Epic implementation roll-out will first start at Moreno Valley Medical Center and then to other facilities over a period of months in a phase approach.
“With an EHR, patients receive care that is safer, better coordinated and more efficient,” says Dr. Aleca Clark, chair of the department of pediatrics at Riverside County Regional Medical Center and head of the electronic health records implementation committee in a statement. “Primary care providers, specialists, nurses and staff can all view a patient’s electronic chart simultaneously in real-time and our patients will have the convenience of being able to view laboratory results and request prescription refills through a web-based patient portal.”
