Carolinas Healthcare System, a nonprofit hospital network based in North and South Carolina announced it has signed a shared services agreement with Southeastern Health to implement Epic for a single, integrated EHR. The deal will equip Southeastern with access to Carolinas group purchasing capabilities including its operational and best practices initiatives. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Southeastern Health includes Southeastern Regional Medical Center, which is licensed for 452 beds and offers a combination of acute care, intensive care and psychiatric services to more than 16,000 inpatients and 68,000 emergency patients annually. Carolinas HealthCare System employs more than 60,000 full-time and part-time employees, more than 7,460 licensed beds (acute care and post-acute care), and an annual budget exceeding $7.7 billion (comparable to many Fortune 500 companies).
