Under Armour, a leading Athletic-apparel maker has agreed to buy San Francisco-based MyFitnessPal for $475 million and Denmark-based Endomondo for $85 million. Combined with the recent purchase of MapMyFitness for $150M, these acquisitions will establish its position as one of the one of the world’s largest digital health and fitness community with more than 120 million registered users worldwide.

Powered by more than 80 million registered users, MyFitnessPal is the leading free resource for achieving and maintaining health and fitness goals, providing nutritional information for over five million foods and offering caloric data associated with hundreds of exercises, empowering its community to make better, more informed healthy-living decisions. The addition of MyFitnessPal adds nutritional resources such as a calorie counter, nutrition and exercise tracker to its offerings.
Endomondo
Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Endomondo is a leading connected digital fitness platform that boasts a global social fitness network of 20 million registered users. The company’s software tracks users’ fitness activities, and motivates its community with world-leading social networking features as well as personalized training programs. Approximately 80% of its user base is located outside of the U.S., which will immediately scale and enhance UA’s European digital fitness presence as a global performance sports leader.
Next Steps
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Under Armour, Endomondo will continue to operate out of its headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the anticipated closing of the acquisition in the first quarter of 2015, MyFitnessPal will continue to operate out of its headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
Under Armour net revenues increased 31% in the fourth quarter of 2014 to $895 million compared with net revenues of $683 million in the prior year’s period. Net income increased 37% in the fourth quarter of 2014 to $88 million compared with $64 million in the prior year’s period.
