Cerner, Epic, and Meditech were the only three EMR solutions to expand their EMR market share in 2013, according to a recent KLAS report. In their latest report entitled, “Clinical Market Share 2014: Competition Mounts as Markets Collide.” The report found that Cerner and Epic won the majority of large(over 200 beds) and small facility (200 beds or less) segments.
“EMR vendors that cater to smaller facilities are feeling the pinch and saw a decrease in wins across the board. It is simply getting increasingly difficult for small-facility vendors to compete with their larger-facility counterparts,” said report author Colin Buckley.
KLAS interviewed large and small hospitals about their EMR solutions including:
– Allscripts
– Cerner
– CPSI
– Epic Systems
– Healthland
– McKesson
– MEDHOST (HMS)
– Siemens
The momentum for Epic will continue to grow as more acute and ambulatory organizations realize that they can adopt Epic in a more cost effective way utilizing their Community Connect program model.
