With high payer scrutiny on healthcare costs, hospitals need to improve care management, coding, quality of care, and documentation efforts. A Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program is an essential component to be competitive in today’s environment.
The following video discusses how Optum Insight, in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, is developing a CDI solution that will improve documentation to facilitate the generation of appropriate and entitled reimbursement. The Optum CDI Module will use our patented natural language processing engine, LifeCode®, to identify issues in clinical documentation, automate the physician query process and provide analytics to support quality initiatives.
Next week, I will dive into the major benefits of Computer Assisted Coding solutions. CAC tools can serve as a great solution to help healthcare providers prepare for the transition to ICD-10.
