Avo and MEDITECH Partner to Integrate AI Scribe into Expanse EHR

What You Should Know:

– Avo, an AI platform designed to improve clinical and operational workflows and combat provider burnout, has announced a partnership with MEDITECH.

– The collaboration will enable Avo’s AI Scribe product to be seamlessly integrated within the MEDITECH Expanse platform. The integration will provide MEDITECH hospitals with native access to Avo’s ambient listening technology, offering AI-driven support for documentation and enhancing ambient notes with a range of features.

Platform-First Approach

Avo’s technology is designed to meet the specific needs of rural and community hospitals. With this new partnership, MEDITECH customers can now access Avo’s ambient listening technology directly within their EHR. This allows for AI-powered summarization, care recommendations, differential diagnoses, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), and coding suggestions.

The AI Scribe product from Avo includes several key features:

  • Real-time, multi-speaker and multi-language patient encounters with the ability to pause and restart recordings.
  • Pulling of relevant patient data from MEDITECH, institutional protocols, and knowledge bases, and pushing structured documentation back into the EHR.
  • Generating differential diagnoses and optimizing notes for reimbursement with CPT and ICD code and CDI suggestions.
  • Summarizing relevant clinical insights and care recommendations in the structured note.
  • Giving the user the ability to select note writing style and preferences.

ROI and Improving Clinician Experience

Avo has demonstrated significant real-world results and return on investment (ROI). According to the data, the platform has led to a 72% reduction in documentation time and an 87% reduction in time spent per chart review. The benefits extend to patient outcomes, with a 74% clinician-reported improvement in patient care, and revenue, with a 20% improvement in encounters completed within 24 hours.

Rebecca Lancaster, MEDITECH Director of Product Management, welcomed the partnership, stating, “We have seen the positive impact Avo has already had in improving clinician efficiency for many of our customers, and we are excited to bring their innovative solution into our EHR”. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in leveraging AI to enhance clinical efficiency and empower providers to focus on what matters most: patient care.
