Enspektos, LLC, a healthcare innovation consultancy, today released a first-of-its-kind research about how patients with addiction use digital health tools, where voice-enabled technologies are currently being deployed in health and more.

Four Q2 2018 digital health trends & themes revealed in the report are:

1. Patients with addiction feel positive about the role digital technologies can play in their treatment. Many, including those with opioid and alcohol addiction, prefer to use social media to help manage their condition.

2. Globally, provider organizations are turning to virtual medicine (including telehealth) in a bid to reduce spending and improve efficiency.

3. Increasingly, voice-enabled devices (using AI-powered virtual assistants similar to Amazon’s Alexa) are being used to manage diabetes and a range of behavioral health conditions, including depression.

4. Although some innovators feared the launch of the European General Data Protection Regulation would stifle innovation (due to potentially reduced access to consumer data), many health organizations appear to be taking it in stride.

These trends were featured in the Q2 2018 edition of Enspektos’ quarterly report series, digihealth impact trac. This research is designed to complement and expand on investment reports produced by StartUp Health, Rock Health, and other organizations.

Data in the report was sourced from Enspektos’ DigiHealth Informer market signals and analytics platform, and survey data from Savvy Cooperative, a patient-owned co-op focusing on delivering health consumer insights.

The Q2 2018 digihealth impact trac report appears below:
