Cricket Health Appoints Dr. Carmen A. Peralta as Chief Medical Officer

Cricket Health, a specialty care provider for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, announced today that Carmen A. Peralta, MD, MAS, has been named the company’s chief medical officer (CMO). Dr. Peralta, Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and a renowned nephrologist who has served on Cricket Health’s medical advisory board, will lead the company’s medical team as it expands its programs and clinical footprint around the country.

Dr. Peralta is a leader in epidemiology of kidney disease and hypertension, a pioneer in implementation sciences in nephrology, and has explored how digital health and mHealth technology can improve CKD care. Most recently, she was Professor of Medicine in Residence at UCSF; a practicing nephrologist at the UCSF Nephrology and Hypertension Faculty Practice; and a clinical investigator, co-founder and executive director for the Kidney Health Research Collaborative. Throughout her career, she has established collaborations with a multidisciplinary team of investigators in nephrology, general internal medicine, epidemiology, data science and human genetics at UCSF and around the country. Her work has contributed to understanding how to detect kidney disease at early stages, how to identify persons with CKD at risk for complications and how socio-economic factors influence kidney care. She is a passionate advocate for health equity.

“I have dedicated my career to improving the lives of those with kidney diseases – from prevention and early detection to management of CKD. Patients today need to understand how to best care for themselves, and the variety of treatments they have available,” said Dr. Peralta. “I look forward to working with Cricket Health to vastly improve the care for all persons with CKD and ESRD today and long into the future.”
