What You Should Know
- Cloud-native radiology software pioneer Sirona Medical, Inc. raises $40M in Series D financing round led by Avidity Partners, with participation from 8VC, GreatPoint Ventures, KLT Holdings, and existing venture partners.
- Reaches long-term financial self-sufficiency: the Series D investment provides permanent capital that funds Sirona’s operating plan indefinitely, bringing total cumulative venture funding to approximately $150 million.
- Operates as the industry’s first unified cloud- and AI-native radiology operating system, RadOS, consolidating PACS archive, universal diagnostic viewer, clinical reporter, smart worklist, and workflow AI into a single software fabric.
RadOS Operating Velocity: Scaling Past 12M Annual Primary Exams
Sirona’s core product, RadOS, was launched commercially in November 2023 as an integrated radiology operating system designed to displace disjointed point solutions. Rather than bolting third-party algorithms onto aging on-premise viewers, RadOS collapses the PACS archive, FDA-cleared diagnostic viewer, structured reporting modules, universal worklist, and AI orchestration layer into a unified cloud-native environment.
Operating data through September 30, 2026, illustrates rapid commercial adoption across large private practices and enterprise hospital systems:
- Sustained Top-Line Trajectory: Year-over-year revenue expanded 2.5x, while contracted Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) grew 2.7x.
- Contracted Primary Exam Volume: Sirona now manages more than 12 million primary imaging exams annually under contract across dozens of multi-site enterprise clients.
- Expanding Enterprise Commitments: On a trailing twelve-month basis, the mean new-customer contracted ARR reached $1.07 million, with average total contract value (TCV) hitting $5.10 million.
- Clinical Network Growth: Platform PACS archive utilization surged 2.5x and submitted diagnostic reports grew 2x year-over-year, with contracts executed to onboard more than 1,000 additional radiologists over the next twelve months.
Capital Allocation: Indefinite Runway, Cortex Commercialization, and Global Push
The Series D proceeds are dedicated to five strategic operational pillars:
- Indefinite Operational Runway: Sirona will deploy the round to achieve cash-flow positivity, removing near-term financing risk and cementing long-term balance sheet stability for enterprise hospital clients.
- Commercialization of Sirona Cortex: Scaling commercial rollouts of Cortex, Sirona’s agentic AI orchestration layer. Cortex coordinates diagnostic models, context-aware pre-reads, and automated report drafting inside the diagnostic viewer, functioning as an intelligent copilot that moves radiology AI beyond static computer-vision overlays.
- Activating the “Sirona Network”: With hundreds of radiologists currently active on a shared cloud architecture—and more than 50% already collaborating across practice boundaries—Sirona will release specialized collaboration tooling in 2027. This network infrastructure will enable distributed health systems and private groups to dynamically load-balance reading lists, share specialty coverage, and consult subspecialists across regional borders.
- Client Services Infrastructure: To support enterprise migrations, Sirona recruited 25-year Sectra veteran Anders Osterholm as Vice President of Client Services. Sirona is establishing new operational hubs in Burlington, Vermont, and Cincinnati, Ohio, expanding its domestic 24/7 technical support and implementation teams.
- Launching “Sirona Global”: Before year-end 2026, the company will debut Sirona Global, expanding commercial and regulatory operations across key international markets, including the United Kingdom, European Union, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
