Flagler Health Raises $50M to Build the AI Operating System for MSK Care

What You Should Know

  • Flagler Health announced a $50M Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, bringing its total capital raised to $63M.
  • Additional round participants include SignalFire, Alumni Ventures, Streamlined, 186 Ventures, Proof VC, Tribeca Venture Partners, and Offscript.
  • Founded by CEO Albert Katz, CMO Dr. Leon Anijar, and CTO Will Hu, Flagler Health provides an AI-native operating system designed specifically for musculoskeletal (MSK) practices.
  • The platform integrates natively into existing Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to automate triage, remote patient outcome tracking, care management, billing, and patient communication with zero workflow disruption.
  • Operating across thousands of providers in 36+ states, Flagler delivers an average of $164,000 in additional annual revenue per provider, while 87% of patients report improvements in pain, mood, sleep, or mobility.

Building the AI Operating System for MSK Care

The capital deployment targets a major structural bottleneck in specialty outpatient care: administrative burden. MSK conditions affect more than half of U.S. adults and drive $400 billion in annual healthcare spending, yet specialists routinely spend two hours on administrative software and documentation for every hour spent in direct patient care. Coupled with declining Medicare reimbursement rates and high staff turnover, administrative friction has compressed operating margins across orthopedic and interventional pain clinics.

Flagler’s platform addresses these practice economics by functioning as an AI-native background operating system rather than a standalone software portal:

  • Background EMR Integration: Operates directly inside incumbent Electronic Medical Record (EMR) environments without requiring new logins, extra clicks, or manual clinical data entry.
  • Full-Lifecycle Workflow Orchestration: Coordinates clinical and administrative tasks across intelligent patient triage, automated care management, billing, prior authorization, and patient communications.
  • Domain-Specific AI Training: Utilizes machine learning models trained on large MSK patient datasets, combining radiology reports, EMR histories, billing codes, and individual physician practice patterns.
  • Quantifiable Financial & Clinical Outcomes: Deployed across thousands of providers in over 36 states, the platform generates an average of $164,000 in additional annual revenue per provider while delivering an 87% patient-reported improvement rate across pain, mobility, and recovery metrics.

“MSK is where the healthcare system’s dysfunction is most visible,” said Albert Katz, CEO of Flagler Health and former MSK clinic operator. “Shrinking reimbursements, administrative overload, inefficient triage—I watched it destroy clinician morale and clinic margins at the same time. This isn’t a workflow problem. It’s structural… We’re the only platform built to fix it at the root.”
