Beyond Annual Physicals: Function Secures $450M Growth Financing from General Catalyst

What You Should Know

  • Consumer health platform Function Health secured $450M in non-dilutive growth financing from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund (CVF).
  • The mega-round comes just eight months after Function’s $298M Series B, accelerating its goal of scaling direct-to-consumer lab testing, full-body imaging, and personalized AI analytics.
  • The injection follows two major Q2 expansion acquisitions: Getlabs (a nationwide mobile blood draw network) and SuppCo (a dietary supplement tracking platform), complementing its earlier acquisition of Ezra for AI body scans.
  • Powered by its proprietary Medical Intelligence Lab™ (MI Lab™), Function processes user data into personalized risk profiles, bridging biological testing directly with targeted supplementation and actionable lifestyle interventions.

The New Standard of Health

The funding arrives as primary care access continues to tighten across the country. With over 100 million Americans lacking a dedicated primary care doctor and average wait times stretching past a month, standard annual checkups often fall short on early risk detection. Typical primary care panels evaluate only a handful of routine markers, frequently missing early signs of cardiovascular, metabolic, or oncological issues before symptoms appear.

Function’s model bypasses the traditional doctor’s office by offering consumers direct access to over 160 biomarkers for $365 a year. The panel tracks hormone levels, thyroid function, organ health, heavy metals, inflammatory markers, and early cancer indicators twice annually. Members can also add full-body MRI and CT imaging for under $1,000 through a network of more than 200 partner centers to check for early malignancies, aneurysms, and vascular changes.

The capital push follows a series of strategic acquisitions designed to bring the entire testing pipeline in-house. Function recently acquired Getlabs to expand nationwide mobile and office phlebotomy, SuppCo to link lab results with targeted supplement regimens, and full-body imaging provider Ezra. Results, imaging, and wearable inputs are processed through Function’s internal Medical Intelligence Lab™ (MI Lab™), which translates raw diagnostic data into personalized health guidance.

“Our mission is simple: enable you to live 100 healthy years. Everyone deserves to feel their best and avoid suffering,” said Jonathan Swerdlin, co-founder and CEO of Function.
