What You Should Know
- Labcorp has unveiled the Marker by Labcorp™ Genetic Health Panel, an integrated consumer offering evaluating 163 genes associated with over 100 medically actionable hereditary conditions (including cancer, cardiovascular, and metabolic risks).
- Leverages Labcorp’s clinical testing infrastructure and newly integrated Invitae genetic assets to shift direct-to-consumer testing away from recreational ancestry toward clinical-grade, actionable disease prevention.
- Integrates consumer-initiated ordering via Labcorp OnDemand with blood collection across Labcorp’s 2,200+ Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and result delivery through the AI-powered MyLabcorp™ app.
- Every panel includes consultations with licensed genetic counselors to help users interpret findings, alongside features enabling seamless data sharing with primary care physicians.
- The panel will officially become available to consumers nationwide starting August 3, 2026.
Invitae Engine and MyLabcorp AI Integration
The Marker by Labcorp panel serves as a major commercial deployment of Labcorp’s broader clinical infrastructure following its acquisition of Invitae’s genetic testing assets:
- 163-Gene Actionable Coverage: Evaluates high-penetrance risk variants across hereditary oncology (e.g., BRCA1/2, Lynch syndrome), cardiovascular conditions (e.g., familial hypercholesterolemia, cardiomyopathies), and metabolic disorders.
- Phlebotomy-Grade Accuracy: Mandates professional blood draws across Labcorp’s network of 2,200+ PSCs, avoiding the sample degradation and high re-test rates typical of home saliva kits.
- Embedded Genetic Counseling Rail: Includes mandatory post-test clinical support from licensed genetic counselors to interpret positive, negative, or uncertain variants and discuss actionable monitoring pathways.
- MyLabcorp™ AI Synchronization: Feeds genetic reports into Labcorp’s AI-powered mobile app, consolidating inherited genomic risk profiles alongside routine clinical blood biomarkers (e.g., lipid panels, HbA1c).
“Genetic information can play an important role in identifying health risks before symptoms appear, yet millions of people are unaware they carry an inherited genetic variant,” stated Dr. Leslie Saltzman, Vice President of Consumer Health Solutions at Labcorp. “Consumers can now access both biomarker and genetic testing through Labcorp OnDemand from a single source, supporting a more comprehensive approach to understanding their health.”
As Marker by Labcorp goes live on August 3, 2026, it sets a clear operational benchmark for how legacy laboratory giants can transform consumer health from an isolated novelty into an automated, auditable, and clinically integrated engine of preventive care.
