Prosper Medical Secures $16M for AI-Powered Primary Care Platform

What You Should Know

  • AI-powered primary care platform Prosper Medical has raised $16M in financing led by FUSE, with participation from Aurum Partners, Better.vc, Cal Innovation Fund, Fluent, Latitude Capital, Knoll Ventures, and WTI.
  • Founded by Ryan McQuaid (CEO) and James Wantuck, MD (CMO), the former founders of PlushCare, which they built and sold to Accolade for $450 million.
  • Prosper shifts away from “transactional” telehealth toward continuous, proactive concierge care by using AI to maintain lifetime patient context, aggregate clinical data, track test results, and coordinate specialist referrals between visits.
  • Unlike traditional cash-pay concierge platforms, Prosper is in-network with major insurance plans and operates across all 50 states to make personalized care accessible beyond the ultra-wealthy.
  • The AI care layer acts as an operational multiplier for physicians and Care Concierge Teams, identifying early risk signals without replacing direct doctor-patient relationships.

Beyond Convenience Telehealth

The primary care, digital health, and outpatient care management sectors face a persistent structural crisis. While the first wave of direct-to-consumer telemedicine made clinical appointments dramatically more convenient, convenience alone failed to fix the fundamental flaw of modern primary care: the loss of longitudinal patient-physician relationships.

In traditional fee-for-service settings, primary care visits remain highly transactional. Physicians are forced to rush through 15-minute appointments, leaving critical clinical data, specialist referrals, lab follow-ups, and preventive care signals lost between visits.

While membership-based concierge medical models solved this by offering high-touch, continuous care, their high out-of-pocket costs restricted the model to the ultra-wealthy.

To democratize continuous concierge medicine and build an AI-native primary care engine, Prosper Medical’s platform utilizes AI agents to handle the massive administrative burden of post-visit follow-up, care orchestration, and data aggregation.

The Continuous AI Care Layer and Clinical Supercharging

At the core of Prosper’s care delivery model is an AI-powered care layer designed to eliminate context loss across a patient’s health journey:

  • Longitudinal Data Aggregation: Continuously ingests and synthesizes health data, specialist records, and patient-reported metrics to keep care teams fully informed before every interaction.
  • Post-Visit Workflow Automation: Automates routine post-encounter operational steps, including specialist navigation, lab follow-ups, and proactive health maintenance tracking.
  • Care Concierge Orchestration: Combines dedicated Care Concierge Teams with real-time AI signal detection to flag clinical risks early and intervene long before acute exacerbations occur.
  • In-Network Accessibility: Operates as an in-network provider across all 50 states, ensuring broad patient access without high cash-subscription barriers.

“When we built PlushCare, we learned that making appointments easier wasn’t enough,” stated Ryan McQuaid, Co-Founder and CEO of Prosper Medical. “The real challenge is everything that happens after a patient leaves the visit… AI finally gives us a way to deliver that level of care and personalization at a scale that wasn’t possible before.”
