What You Should Know
- Healthcare managed IT platform Focus has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Plano, Texas-based GuideIT. Post-closing, the entity will operate as GuideIT, A Focus Company.
- The transaction is designed to replace the fragmented model of multi-vendor IT management—where health systems juggle separate providers for cloud, cybersecurity, and EHR support—with a single, accountable operating partner.
- GuideIT brings over twenty years of operational delivery, spanning managed IT, cybersecurity analytics, cloud integration, IT/clinical service desks, and medical data/EHR services.
- GuideIT clients will maintain their existing contracts, day-to-day teams, and service agreements while gaining access to Focus’s expanded national infrastructure and technology platform.
Unified Operations and Cross-System Integration
The acquisition combines Focus’s managed healthcare platform with GuideIT’s deep domain expertise and proprietary tools:
- Unified Service Chassis: Consolidates cloud infrastructure management, 24/7 clinical service desks, and network monitoring into a single service desk model.
- EHR and Data Services Expansion: Leverages GuideIT’s specialized capabilities in electronic health record (EHR) conversion, chart abstraction, and data migration across 100+ health system instances.
- HITRUST-Certified Security Layer: Integrates cybersecurity analytics, automated endpoint scanning, and rapid breach response pipelines to maintain compliance across multi-site health systems.
- The “Insights” Operating Engine: Combines predictive monitoring and data analytics to preemptively detect system vulnerabilities before they cause clinical downtime.
“Healthcare doesn’t have a technology problem, it has an accountability problem,” stated Bruce Schaumberg, Founder and CEO of Focus. “Too many organizations are expected to coordinate multiple technology providers when what they really need is one partner accountable for making technology work. That’s the company we’re building.”
