What You Should Know
- Digital mental health platform Headspace has launched new clinical care partnerships with Charlie Health, Cortica, Prosper Health, and Equip.
- The move comes as nearly one-third of referral requests across Headspace’s 65,000+ clinician network require specialized, high-need behavioral intervention.
- Headspace’s dedicated Referral Coordination team executes warm handoffs, maintaining clinical continuity for members accessing care via EAPs, employers, health plans, or direct channels.
Coordinated Pathways Across High-Need Populations
The partnership model addresses a critical operational metric: over the past year, nearly one-third of all care referral requests submitted to Headspace were for high-need specialty care.
To manage these complex cases without losing care continuity, Headspace relies on a dedicated Referral Coordination team. When a therapist, psychiatrist, or coach identifies a higher-acuity need, the system executes a managed “warm handoff” directly to the specialized partner best equipped for the patient’s age and condition:
- Charlie Health (Virtual IOPs): Serves members (ages 8–64) requiring intensive outpatient care for complex mental health, trauma, or co-occurring substance use disorders through curated group, individual, and family therapy.
- Cortica (Neurodevelopmental & ASD Care): Delivers physician-led, whole-child care for youth (17 and under) with autism and neurodevelopmental conditions across virtual, in-center, and home settings.
- Prosper Health (Adult Neurodiversity): Provides virtual, neurodiversity-affirming psychological diagnostic evaluations, therapy, and post-diagnosis community support for autistic adults (18+).
- Equip (Virtual Eating Disorder Treatment): Provides fully virtual, multidisciplinary eating disorder care for patients (ages 6+) across various acuity levels.
As Headspace scales this specialty ecosystem across its employer and plan network, it delivers the exact infrastructure required to transform behavioral health navigation from a fragmented administrative burden into an automated, auditable, and entirely secure system of lifelong human care.
The future belongs exclusively to integrated intelligence networks that can seamlessly transform raw technology fragmentation into an automated, auditable, and entirely secure system of lifelong human care.
