What You Should Know

  • The Acquisition: D2 Solutions, a healthcare consulting and technology company focused on market access, has officially acquired ProModRx, a cloud-based technology platform designed to accelerate patient access to prescription medications. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
  • The Core Problem: The prescription fulfillment pipeline is fundamentally broken. According to D2’s internal research, 21% of adults delayed starting a prescribed medication because of confusion or access issues. Furthermore, 11% never picked up their medication, 12% skipped doses, and 8% stopped treatment early.
  • The Strategic Integration: ProModRx’s cloud infrastructure will be directly integrated into D2’s existing UltraTouch® Verify and UltraTouch® Engage platforms.

Addressing the Cost of Access Barriers

The acquisition comes at a time when administrative friction significantly impacts patient health. Recent research from D2 highlights a troubling trend:

  • 21% of adults delayed starting a prescribed medication due to confusion or access issues.
  • 11% of patients failed to pick up their medications from the pharmacy.
  • 12% of respondents skipped doses, while 8% discontinued treatment earlier than planned.

By acquiring ProModRx, D2 Solutions aims to eliminate these gaps, providing the connectivity required between manufacturers, prescribers, and patients to ensure treatments aren’t abandoned due to logistical complexity.

Enhancing the UltraTouch® Ecosystem

The integration of ProModRx strengthens D2’s core technology offerings, specifically within the UltraTouch Verify and UltraTouch Engage platforms:

UltraTouch Verify: Reducing Therapy Delays

  • Comprehensive eBV: Conducts electronic Benefit Verification for both medical and pharmacy benefits.
  • Coverage Insights: Provides deep visibility into coverage across all therapy types.
  • Streamlined Workflows: Automates prior authorization, prescriber-input collection, and appeals.

UltraTouch Engage: Maintaining Momentum

  • Proactive Outreach: Automates patient communication to ensure timely onboarding.
  • Multilingual Support: Offers enrollment and engagement tools in multiple languages to broaden reach.

A Modular, Stakeholder-Driven Model

The deal extends D2’s reach across the entire pharmacy landscape—including retail, hospital, mail-order, and specialty channels. For pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, this represents a more scalable way to manage fulfillment and reimbursement in an increasingly complex policy environment.

As part of the transition, ProModRx General Manager Jerry Smith will join the D2 Solutions executive team. “Together, we can offer our shared clients a broader and deeper set of solutions that support enrollment, reimbursement, fulfillment and ongoing engagement all within a single, integrated model,” said Smith.
