Abbott Integrates Precision Oncology Portfolio into Flatiron Health’s OncoEMR to Streamline Cancer Care

What You Should Know:

Integration: Abbott has partnered with Flatiron Health to natively integrate its Precision Oncology testing portfolio directly into OncoEMR®, Flatiron’s cloud-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform.

Impact: This integration allows oncology providers to order Abbott’s specialized cancer tests and view the results without ever leaving their primary clinical workflow.

The Technology Integration

Instead of logging into separate portals or dealing with fragmented paperwork, oncologists using OncoEMR can now digitally order the following Abbott tests directly from the patient’s chart:

  • Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score®
  • OncoExTra®
  • Oncodetect®
  • Riskguard®

Status updates and final test results are automatically routed back into the OncoEMR system, centralizing the patient’s data.

Advancing Precision Medicine Directly to Community Settings

The primary goal of this integration is to reduce administrative burnout for clinicians. By removing the friction of switching between different software systems, doctors can move faster from ordering tests to making data-driven treatment decisions.

This partnership pushes advanced precision medicine directly into the community setting. Flatiron’s network includes over 1,600 community cancer care centers and 4,700 providers. Because the vast majority of cancer care in the U.S. takes place in these local community clinics (rather than massive academic research hospitals), embedding these tests directly into their daily EMR drastically lowers the barrier to accessing advanced genomic and oncological diagnostics.

“We’re focused on making it easier for clinicians to access the right information at the right moment of care,” said Quincy Weatherspoon, VP and GM of Point of Care Solutions, Flatiron Health. “By integrating Abbott’s Precision Oncology portfolio directly into OncoEMR, we’re reducing friction in the workflow and helping providers move faster – from test ordering to treatment decisions. This is what it looks like to bring more connected, data-driven care to the point of care.”
