What You Should Know:

– Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Hoag, Orange County, California’s highest-ranked hospital announced a landmark 10-year strategic collaboration.

– The initiative is set to standardize and modernize patient monitoring across Hoag’s two acute care hospitals, including the expanded Sun Family Campus in Irvine, which will add 155 inpatient beds in mid-2026.

Unified, Patient-Centered Monitoring Environment

Hoag will adopt Philips’ Enterprise Monitoring as a Service (EMaaS) model to ensure continuous access to the latest innovations with financial predictability. The collaboration focuses on creating a seamless, patient-centered monitoring environment that enhances data continuity and safety.

  • Technology Deployment: Hoag will implement Philips’ latest IntelliVue MX750 bedside and X3 transport patient monitors across its network. The X3 allows the monitoring solution to travel with the patient, ensuring continuous insights regardless of location and reducing disruptions.
  • Foundational Intelligence: The Philips Patient Information Center (PIC iX) serves as the core foundation, integrating patient monitoring data, clinical decision support tools, and early warning scores to enable informed decisions.

Enabling Smarter, Responsive Care Delivery

The combination of the Philips MX750 and X3 creates a powerful, software-driven solution that allows clinicians to instantly adjust monitoring levels, ensuring the system can flexibly transform any bed to meet a patient’s changing acuity care needs. This supports rapid response and continuity of care.Philips’ systems are designed to be scalable, secure, and interoperable, integrating directly with Hoag’s electronic health record (EHR) platform to support efficient and coordinated patient care.

“By creating a seamless monitoring environment that travels with the patient, we’re enhancing both the quality and comfort of care,” said Rick Martin, Hoag Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
