What You Should Know:

– Proscia®, a pathology AI company, has introduced a new virtual staining feature in its Concentriq® software platform.

– The technology, powered by Pictor Labs, is designed to help laboratories reduce the costs and time associated with traditional chemical staining methods. The virtual staining will also support the evolution from research applications to clinical use, expanding diagnostic possibilities.

Transforming Traditional Pathology Workflows

Conventional chemical staining is a critical but costly, slow, and tissue-destructive process that can lead to inconsistent and irreproducible results. Virtual staining addresses these limitations by using AI models to replicate the effects of stains on tissue images. These models can generate a whole-slide, virtually stained image from an unlabeled input in just a few minutes, compared to the hours or days required for traditional methods.

Reinforcing a Commitment to AI and Precision Medicine

Proscia will integrate a menu of H&E, IHC, and special stains into its Concentriq® platform, which is used by more than 12,000 pathologists and scientists globally. This integration will extend the platform’s precision medicine AI portfolio.

“Virtual staining is a powerful example of the growing impact of pathology AI,” said David West, CEO of Proscia. “By introducing it in Concentriq, we are reinforcing our commitment to helping our customers leverage AI across every dimension of their work.”
