What You Should Know:

– Amazon Pharmacy has announced the expansion of its RxPass subscription service to Texas.

– The service, which costs Prime members just $5 per month, provides access to over 50 commonly prescribed medications that treat chronic conditions like anxiety, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

– Texas ranks fourth in the percentage of U.S. adults with three or more chronic conditions, making the expansion a significant move for the state. The RxPass benefit includes free two-day delivery and same-day service in eligible locations, and it is available to Texans, including Medicare beneficiaries.

Improving Medication Adherence and Affordability

RxPass has been shown to improve medication adherence, which is a critical factor for the estimated 133 million Americans who manage at least one chronic illness. According to Hannah McClellan, VP of Pharmacy Operations at Amazon Pharmacy, the expansion of RxPass to 48 U.S. states will help many customers, especially those with chronic conditions, manage their health more easily.

Healthcare providers can prescribe medications directly to Amazon Pharmacy, and customers can easily transfer existing prescriptions. Licensed and trained pharmacists are available 24/7 to address any questions customers may have about their medications.

This expansion to 48 states nationwide demonstrates Amazon’s continued commitment to making healthcare more accessible and affordable for customers. Amazon Pharmacy will continue to leverage Amazon’s “customer-obsessed approach and extensive delivery network infrastructure” to ensure that customers enjoy the ease and convenience of managing their health through fast medication delivery.

“Many customers, especially older adults, face multiple barriers when managing chronic conditions that could be life-altering,” said Tess Carey, a Senior Pharmacist at Amazon Pharmacy. “With RxPass, customers can enjoy the benefits of having affordable, reliable medication access, which will increase adherence and help save lives.”
