Sleep.ai Raises $5.5M to Lead AI-Powered Sleep Intelligence Market

What You Should Know:

– Sleep.ai, formerly known as SleepScore Labs secures $5.5M in venture funding led by Treasure Coast Ventures, with participation from Nurture Ventures, the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of Greater New York, Supermoon Capital, and several other investors.

– The funding will help Sleep.ai accelerate commercialization, expand its partner integrations, and extend its reach across health, wellness, insurance, and other sectors.

Sleep.ai Inception & Rebranding

Originally founded as SleepScore Labs in 2016, the company has spent the past decade building a robust foundation of sleep science. The company is rebranding and unifying its science, product, and platform under one name, Sleep.ai. The company’s R&D and validation services will continue to be named SleepScore Labs.

Sleep.ai’s platform is backed by more than 800 million hours of proprietary sleep data, over 250 scientific studies, more than 90 scientific publications and peer-reviewed papers, and a growing patent portfolio. According to Colin Lawlor, Founder and CEO of Sleep.ai, the company has been building toward this moment since acquiring the Sleep.ai domain name in 2018, with the goal of leading a global movement to reshape how we understand and harness sleep to improve health outcomes.

Growing Need for AI-Powered Sleep Health Solutions

The need for scalable, AI-powered solutions in sleep health is urgent. Sleep deprivation costs the global economy over $411B annually in lost productivity, accidents, and health issues. However, access to clinical care is severely limited, with approximately one board-certified sleep specialist for every 43,000 U.S. patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

By leveraging AI with scientifically and clinically validated solutions, Sleep.ai is uniquely positioned to deliver personalized sleep insights at a scale no other solution can reach. Its platform translates the world’s largest validated sleep dataset into actionable, science-backed guidance for healthcare providers, wellness companies, insurers, and technology partners.

Sleep.ai now unites four core capabilities under a single platform:

  • SleepScore Labs: The company’s internal R&D and validation arm.
  • SleepScore: A consumer app that acts as both a data engine and a direct-to-consumer product.
  • Reimbursed sleep improvement programs: Such as “Dein Schlaf” in Germany, which is the world’s first reimbursed sleep improvement app.
  • APIs and SDKs: These offer plug-and-play solutions for partners across various industries, including digital health, insurance, and mental health.

“This funding marks a pivotal moment where AI transforms health outcomes by transforming tens of billions of complex data points into actionable sleep intelligence,” said Colin Lawlor, Founder and CEO of Sleep.ai. “Sleep is highly complex and highly personal, with many variables impacting it. The accuracy and scale of the data are key, and the computational complexity becomes revolutionary. Our AI doesn’t just analyze sleep—it interprets data in a way no human could, turning massive datasets into meaningful insights that drive better health outcomes.”
