KLAS Report: State of EHR Adoption in Asia & Oceania in 2025

– The healthcare technology landscape in Asia and Oceania is experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing digital maturity and a strong desire for enhanced interoperability, according to a new KLAS Research report. The report, “Asia/Oceania EHR 2025,” reveals key trends in vendor performance and market share, highlighting a maturing market with evolving customer demands for value and up-to-date technology.

– The KLAS report, a follow-up to 2022 data, provides an in-depth examination of market energy and customer satisfaction with key EHR vendors across the region. For the first time, insights for Asia are broken down into two distinct subregions: East Asia and South/Southeast Asia.

Market Dynamics: Growth, Competition, and Vendor Presence

Buying energy is on the rise across Asia and Oceania, with many healthcare organizations either implementing their first EHR system or focusing on improving interoperability to align with local initiatives. As EHR maturity deepens, customer expectations from vendors are increasing, demanding greater value and more advanced technology.

The report identifies several key players and their market presence:

  • IQVIA has expanded its footprint more than any other vendor in Asia over the last five years, signing numerous new EHR contracts in Southeast Asia.
  • InterSystems maintains a broad presence across many countries in both Asia and Oceania, adding 31 new hospitals from 9 unique organizations in the last five years. They are also the 2025 Best in KLAS winner for Asia/Oceania Acute Care EHR.
  • Oracle Health has customers in eight countries with its Millennium and i.s.h.med platforms, with significant growth attributed to a statewide expansion in Queensland, Australia.
  • Epic secured the largest market share in Oceania in 2023 following a major contract in New South Wales, Australia.
  • Dedalus has a presence in several countries, predominantly in South and Southeast Asia.
  • ezCaretech has seen significant growth in large hospitals in South Korea and has a development partner in Japan.
  • Winning Health and iMEDWAY both report large customer bases in China.

Regional Performance Highlights

South/Southeast Asia: InterSystems Leads in Satisfaction, IQVIA Grows Rapidly In South/Southeast Asia, InterSystems leads in customer satisfaction, offering a highly capable solution with strong language support. Customers appreciate the product’s value and an updated user interface, as well as responsive support and strong leadership. However, some desire better physician documentation, more AI features (like ambient speech), streamlined medication ordering, and faster solution delivery.

IQVIA has experienced rapid growth across this subregion, with both on-premises and cloud deployments. Customers value strong relationships and timely support, particularly from the executive team in India. Areas for improvement include more on-site training, better insights on product utilization, and avoiding unexpected charges.

East Asia: Local Vendors Excel, AI Features Desired In East Asia, particularly China, Winning Health and iMEDWAY have large customer bases. Winning Health is recognized for reliable service, strong relationships, and a robust, user-friendly, and technologically advanced platform. Customers are optimistic about AI-driven capabilities in the roadmap but desire better communication and improved upgrade quality. iMEDWAY customers generally express satisfaction, praising the EHR’s comprehensive capabilities, integrated design, and valuable reporting. They seek more consistent and timely support.

ezCaretech, based in South Korea, has strong product quality and a clinician-friendly user experience. Customers highlight their strong technical skills but desire more responsive and proactive support and continued system development, including enhanced mobile functionality.

Oceania: High Expectations Lead to Dissatisfaction, Oracle Health at 10-Year Low Healthcare organizations in Oceania report significantly lower EHR satisfaction compared to their Asian counterparts. This is attributed to longer EHR usage, leading to higher expectations, and a perception that vendors prioritize customers in other regions.

InterSystems clients report the highest satisfaction among fully rated vendors in Oceania, yet still voice concerns about product usability, support responsiveness, and delays in innovation. Despite these challenges, customers appreciate InterSystems’ partnership approach, strong integration capabilities, and cost transparency.

Oracle Health Millennium PowerChart customers in Oceania report a 10-year low in satisfaction. Key issues include vague contracts, non-intuitive workflows, slow innovation, and declining support. While some value data centralization and stability, overall outcomes often depend on internal resources rather than vendor support. Customers are seeking more clarity on the product roadmap.

Epic and MEDITECH also have a presence in Oceania. Epic users praise its responsive support, mature functionality, and integrated design. However, concerns persist about cost and training accessibility due to time zone differences, and some note limitations in interoperability and alignment with global best practices. MEDITECH customers generally find the system offers fair value and appreciate localization efforts, but express concerns about dated underlying technology, delayed new functionality, and upgrade-related bugs.
