– Ovatient, a virtual-first healthcare services company, today announced the launch of its virtual-first care offering in South Carolina through a partnership with MUSC Health, the Medical University of South Carolina’s health system.
– The new service is built on MUSC Health’s Epic electronic medical record and MyChart patient portal, aiming to provide patients across the state with greater access to comprehensive virtual care.
– Ovatient will deliver on-demand urgent care and virtual-first primary care, along with integrated behavioral health services. The company anticipates providing care for more than 50,000 MUSC Health patients within the first year of operation alone.
Enhancing Access to Coordinated Virtual Care
The collaboration leverages Ovatient’s whole-person model of care, ensuring that virtual services are connected and coordinated with patients’ existing trusted care teams at MUSC Health. “It’s important that patients know they can access care when and where they need it. As a founding member of Ovatient, we are building on MUSC Health’s best-in-class virtual care offerings to give patients across the state access to new virtual-first care services that are connected and coordinated with the care teams they trust at MUSC Health,” said Patrick J. Cawley, M.D., CEO, MUSC Health and executive vice president for Health Affairs at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Ovatient’s full-time, dedicated virtual care team fully integrates with MUSC Health’s digital front door via Epic and MyChart, aiming to provide a meaningful, person-centered experience. The company reports an industry-leading net-promoter score of 82 for its providers, with 95% of patients stating they would use Ovatient’s services again. Crucially, while Ovatient’s services are virtual-first, they are not virtual-only; patients can be seamlessly transitioned to in-person care tailored and coordinated with their existing care team when necessary.
“Everyone’s health journey is unique, and everyone should be able to choose how, when and where they get their care without ever compromising on quality. With MUSC Health, we are championing a more coordinated approach to virtual care that connects patients to care teams they trust, whether they are in person or online,” said Michael Dalton, CEO of Ovatient. “When care is connected through the EHR, patients and providers alike see a seamless experience, and we build and maintain trust. With this information, health systems grow their insights and share of care and build stronger relationships with their patients”.
