Artisight, NVIDIA, and KARL STORZ Transform "Smart ORs" with AI-driven Automation

What You Should Know:

– Artisight, Inc., a pioneer in AI-powered Smart Hospital Platforms, is expanding its collaborative efforts with KARL STORZ, a global leader in Operating Room (OR) integration, and NVIDIA to usher in the next generation of AI-driven solutions for smart operating rooms.

– The partnership aims to enhance surgical insights, automate processes, and boost perioperative efficiency.

Revolutionize Smart Operating Rooms with AI

Building upon their existing collaboration, Artisight and KARL STORZ are now integrating NVIDIA’s advanced AI computing platform to drive real-time intelligence within the OR. This integration has led to KARL STORZ introducing Pathway.AI, a new solution powered by the NVIDIA Jetson™ platform.

NVIDIA Jetson for OR Automation

NVIDIA Jetson, known for delivering high-performance AI compute and sensor processing capabilities for energy-efficient edge computing devices, enables Pathway.AI to leverage computer vision and ambient listening. This technology automates critical OR and perioperative tasks, such as sending automated alerts upon surgery completion or when an OR requires cleaning.

Artisight, leveraging the NVIDIA AI computing platform, is further enhancing KARL STORZ’s OR1® integrated operating room technology. Combining Artisight’s expertise in deep learning and clinical operations, the partnership aims to make these technologies more intuitive and adaptable to diverse surgical scenarios.

Pathway.AI Background

Pathway.AI, powered by Artisight, is designed to be highly customizable and localized to each operative suite. This localized fine-tuning is crucial, as each institution serves a unique combination of patients, procedures, and clinicians with distinct workflows. Artisight’s proprietary training process has been independently certified as HIPAA-compliant, ensuring patient privacy and clinical autonomy.

The collaboration is set to accelerate innovation by incorporating the latest technologies from NVIDIA. Artisight plans to utilize NVIDIA Riva for automatic speech recognition (ASR) and NVIDIA Cosmos Nemotron VLMs to analyze images and videos, further enhancing the capabilities of smart operating rooms.

“Artisight is able to bring these new technologies to ORs and hospitals across the globe with NVIDIA and KARL STORZ,” said Andrew Gostine, MD, CEO and co-founder of Artisight. “Providers and patients are seeing improved outcomes and satisfaction scores that raise the standards of care across the perioperative continuum.”
