athenahealth Partners with Abridge to Bring Ambient AI to Ambulatory Care

What You Should Know:

– athenahealth, a provider of network-enabled healthcare software and services, today announced a partnership with Abridge, a pioneer in generative AI for healthcare.

– The collaboration will integrate Abridge’s ambient AI technology into athenaOne, athenahealth’s cloud-based EHR platform, providing ambulatory care practices with seamless access to real-time clinical documentation and enhanced efficiency.

Expanding Access to AI-Powered Solutions

The partnership introduces Ambient Notes, a new solution that embeds Abridge’s AI-powered clinical documentation capabilities directly within athenaOne. This allows clinicians to activate ambient listening during patient encounters, automatically generating comprehensive medical notes without interrupting the flow of care.

Ambient Notes is currently available in limited release to over 160,000 clinicians on the athenahealth network, with plans for wider availability throughout 2025. This partnership expands access to cutting-edge AI technology for ambulatory care practices, empowering them to enhance patient care and improve operational efficiency.

“Today’s clinicians – particularly those in independent practices – are overwhelmed with regulatory, financial, and administrative burdens that get in the way of caring for patients. They need integrated, intuitive, and agile solutions that solve these problems and take away busy work, without adding more complexity. This is our primary focus at athenahealth, and we’re excited to partner with Abridge, a leader and innovator in this space, so that ambulatory practices of any size can access the latest and most innovative AI capabilities,” said Paul Brient, chief product officer at athenahealth.
