What You Should Know:

– MICA Artificial Intelligence and Baptist Health South Florida have joined forces in a groundbreaking collaboration to transform breast cancer detection.

– By integrating MICA AI’s innovative technology into mammography, the collaboration aims to improve the accuracy and efficiency of breast cancer screening, leading to earlier diagnosis and better patient outcomes.

AI-Powered Mammogram Insights for Earlier Breast Cancer Detection

MICA AI, developed within Sheba Medical Center’s ARC start-up ecosystem, utilizes advanced algorithms to assist radiologists in analyzing mammograms. The technology offers several key benefits:

  • Enhanced Image Analysis: Helps radiologists identify subtle abnormalities that may be indicative of early-stage breast cancer.
  • Improved Accuracy: Reduces the risk of false positives and false negatives, leading to more confident diagnoses.
  • Non-Invasive Contrast Enhancement: Offers a potential alternative to traditional Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM), which requires iodine injections, by providing similar information about blood supply in the breasts without the need for additional procedures.
  • Dense Breast Tissue Solution: Enhances mammogram images that are difficult to interpret due to dense breast tissue, a common challenge in mammography.

This collaboration is spearheaded by medical experts at The Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health South Florida. The Institute is renowned for its comprehensive women’s health services, including advanced imaging technology and same-day mammography results.

“This is an exciting example of how Baptist Health Innovations is accelerating innovation through our relationship with Sheba Medical Center and ARC together with MICA AI to bring advanced solutions in cancer therapy for our patients by facilitating collaboration between our subject matter experts and advanced technology companies,” said Barry T. Katzen, M.D., Chief Medical Innovation Officer of Baptist Health South Florida.
