What You Should Know:

–  The Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS), operator of Oklahoma’s largest telehealth network, has partnered with virtual care company TytoCare to provide 15,000+ students across Oklahoma with virtual care.

–  Through this collaboration, OSU-CHS worked with TytoCare to equip 13 schools with the Pro Smart Clinic. Many of the schools that are now part of the telehealth initiative did not previously have clinical staff or technology on-site; this partnership will ensure all students who attend these schools are able to get high-quality care.

OSU-CHS and TytoCare Pro Smart Clinic: Revolutionizing Rural Healthcare Access and School-Based Health Solutions

Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS), a distinguished academic health center known for excellence in teaching, research, and patient care, has partnered with TytoCare to address healthcare challenges in underserved regions. OSU-CHS offers a range of graduate and professional programs in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the School of Allied Health, the School of Health Care Administration, the School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Forensic Sciences, and a Physician Assistant program. Through its partnership with TytoCare and its innovative Pro Smart Clinic, OSU Medicine brings unparalleled leadership and healthcare innovation to Oklahoma and beyond by merging high-quality patient care with cutting-edge research and academic resources.

The Pro Smart Clinic is a pioneering solution that allows healthcare providers to conduct remote medical exams, such as lung, throat, ear, and heart exams, as well as body temperature assessments. Leveraging TytoCare’s FDA-cleared, AI-powered lung and wheeze detection, these exams replicate the quality of in-person clinic visits, providing vital health services without requiring physical presence at medical facilities.

Benefits of the Pro Smart Clinic for students and families include:

– Improved access and reduced absenteeism: Students needing medical attention during school hours can receive necessary exams on-site, minimizing the need to miss class or travel to a doctor’s office.

– Support for rural communities: This partnership with TytoCare serves remote regions where medical care access is often limited, reducing travel burdens for parents who may be far from healthcare facilities.

– Significant impact in outcomes: In schools where the Pro Smart Clinic is implemented, remote diagnoses have increased by 59%, with 98% of visits achieving full resolution, ensuring students receive timely and efficient care.

OSU-CHS is among more than 70 U.S. health systems, including Corewell Health and Sanford Health, that have deployed TytoCare’s Pro Smart Clinic in rural clinics and critical access hospitals across states such as South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. TytoCare’s devices are now operational in over 2,500 schools across 31 states, providing crucial healthcare services to students who would otherwise face travel or provider shortages. Through this partnership, OSU-CHS plans to expand to 20 additional schools in the region, potentially serving up to 18,000 students.

With a user-friendly design, the Pro Smart Clinic is easily operated by school nurses and administrative staff, integrating seamlessly into daily school operations without requiring specialized medical training. By providing essential healthcare within schools, OSU Virtual Care bridges the healthcare gap in rural Oklahoma, ensuring high-quality, timely care that enhances both educational and health outcomes.

“Schools are a critical way for health systems to get care to the people who need it most, but not every school has access to a clinically trained professional,” said Dedi Gilad, CEO and Co-Founder of TytoCare. “With the Pro Smart Clinic, students in these schools are provided with advanced, on-site virtual care that goes beyond outdated telehealth carts. For the first time, students in this region can receive comprehensive physical exams remotely, empowering nurses to accurately diagnose and treat a wide range of health issues on the spot.”
