Talkspace & Wheel Partner for Holistic Virtual Healthcare: Addressing Mental & Physical Needs

What You Should Know:

– Talkspace, an online behavioral health care provider, today announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Health Services to raise awareness and increase the accessibility of its mental health care services on Amazon.com.

– The collaboration marks Talkspace as the first virtual behavioral health provider to join Amazon’s program, enabling individuals to discover and enroll in their health insurance benefits for mental health services at no additional cost or for a small copay.

Addressing the Mental Health Crisis

Mental health challenges are pervasive in the U.S., with millions experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. Despite the growing need for support, the high cost and difficulty in finding providers often prevent individuals from seeking help.

Breaking Down Barriers to Care

Through this innovative partnership, Amazon aims to help customers identify and access their Talkspace mental health benefits, which they may not even realize are available through their employer or health plan. Studies indicate that a significant portion of U.S. adults are unaware of their full range of benefits.

Seamless Access to Mental Health Services

Now, when Amazon customers search for topics related to mental health, like “stress relief” or “family therapy,” they will be presented with an option to check their eligibility for Talkspace therapy and psychiatry services. Eligible individuals can then seamlessly navigate to the Talkspace website, complete enrollment, and be matched with a licensed therapist in their state within days. They can immediately schedule live online sessions (audio, video, or live chat) or message their therapist asynchronously.

Fulfilling Talkspace’s Mission

This partnership aligns with Talkspace’s mission to make high-quality virtual mental healthcare accessible to a broader population by leveraging insurance coverage. With a network of over 5,000 therapists and providers across 50 states, Talkspace is poised to significantly expand its reach and impact.

“This partnership with Amazon marks a pivotal moment in our mission to provide high-quality mental health care to the majority of Americans,” said Jon Cohen, MD, Chief Executive Officer at Talkspace. “By making it easier for millions of people across the U.S. to discover their behavioral health benefits while shopping Amazon, we can ensure more people gain access to more than 5,000 licensed therapists they may not have known about, helping them begin their therapy journey with Talkspace.”
