MEDITECH Launches Nationwide HIE Interoperability Network for U.S.

What You Should Know:

– MEDITECH launches Traverse Exchange, a new nationwide health information exchange (HIE) network designed to facilitate secure and efficient sharing of patient data among healthcare providers.

– Built on the foundation of the successful Traverse Exchange Canada, the new platform enables MEDITECH customers to exchange health information with other MEDITECH organizations and external systems that adhere to interoperability standards.

Transverse Exchange: Streamlining Data Access Exchange for Interoperability

Traverse Exchange empowers healthcare providers with powerful tools to compile and curate patient data, offering a comprehensive view of a patient’s health history. By streamlining data access and exchange, the network aims to improve care coordination, reduce redundancies, and enhance patient outcomes.

Traverse Exchange key features include:

  • Nationwide Connectivity: Enables data sharing between MEDITECH customers and other healthcare organizations using different EHR systems.
  • TEFCA Compliance: Adheres to the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) standards for secure data exchange.
  • Intelligent Search Capabilities: Facilitates efficient patient data retrieval across multiple networks.
  • Data Privacy and Security: Protects patient information through a federated query-based approach that avoids storing patient data on the network.

“Traverse Exchange removes one of the greatest barriers to interoperability by making it easier for physicians to leverage the most meaningful data from multiple organizations in one place to inform clinical decisions. Physicians will no longer need to sift through multiple large CCDs or data exports to obtain necessary information. By embedding interoperability directly within their native workflows, they can precisely access what they need when needed. It also lays the groundwork for more advanced data analysis as we look to additional AI and machine learning solutions,” explained MEDITECH Senior Director of Interoperability Market and Product Strategy Mike Cordeiro.

Availability

Traverse Exchange is scheduled for launch in Q3 2024. MEDITECH customers can learn more about this groundbreaking solution at the upcoming MEDITECH LIVE leadership event in September.
