What You Should Know:

– VitalHub Corp., a leading provider of healthcare operations software and services, announced the acquisition of MedCurrent Corporation, a clinical decision support (CDS) company.

– The acquisition will integrate MedCurrent’s OrderWise platform with VitalHub’s existing Patient Flow software suite to create a comprehensive solution for managing healthcare resources.

Financial Details of the Acquisition

VitalHub will acquire MedCurrent for up to approximately C$34 million, with an initial cash payment of C$12 million and additional earn-out payments based on performance. The transaction is expected to close in early September 2024, subject to regulatory approvals and shareholder vote.

Addressing Inefficiencies in Healthcare Delivery

MedCurrent’s OrderWise solution utilizes AI to optimize diagnostic testing, helping healthcare providers make more informed decisions at the point of care. By reducing unnecessary tests and improving test utilization, OrderWise can help lower costs and enhance patient outcomes.

The integration of OrderWise with VitalHub’s Patient Flow platform will create a powerful combination of tools for healthcare organizations to manage patient flow, optimize resource allocation, and improve overall efficiency.

Strategic Alignment

The acquisition of MedCurrent aligns with VitalHub’s strategic vision of providing comprehensive healthcare operations software solutions. By combining the strengths of both companies, VitalHub will be better positioned to address the challenges faced by healthcare organizations and improve patient care.

“This acquisition represents a significant step forward in our mission to enhance healthcare delivery through technology,” said Dan Matlow, CEO of VitalHub. “MedCurrent’s unique CDS software addresses a clear and critical need in the healthcare system. By integrating MedCurrent’s solutions with our existing offerings, we believe that we can significantly reduce unnecessary tests and procedures, ultimately lowering costs and improving patient care. We are excited about the potential to expand MedCurrent’s reach internationally and enhance our collective impact on global healthcare systems.”
