Tuesday Health Launches Supportive Care Solution with $60M

What You Should Know:

– Tuesday Health, a leader in value-based care for the seriously ill, has launched its innovative supportive care solution with $60M in partnership with Valtruis, Blue Venture Fund, Mass General Brigham Ventures, and CareSource.

– Tuesday Health’s mission is to make the end-of-life journey clearer and more supportive for patients and families. With this significant investment and a committed team, they are well-positioned to achieve their goals and redefine supportive care nationwide.

Transforming Supportive Care

“Leveraging clinical expertise, advanced data, and technology, Tuesday Health is dedicated to tackling a critical healthcare challenge: providing the right support and care, at the right time, for those facing serious illness,” said Jim Wieland, CEO of Tuesday Health. They aim to achieve this by:

  • Earlier Intervention: Providing supportive care earlier in a patient’s journey, ensuring they receive the best services from the best providers at the most opportune time.
  • Seamless Care Coordination: Facilitating a smooth transition between Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, or commercial insurance into high-quality hospice care when appropriate.
  • Patient-Centered Approach: Offering compassionate, supportive care that aligns with the specific needs of both patients and caregivers, from diagnosis through treatment.

Addressing Systemic Challenges

Despite the recognized benefits of supportive care, significant barriers exist for patients and families:

  • Confusing Choices: Traditional healthcare plans often present a complex and uncoordinated array of options, especially during a patient’s final years.
  • Increased Hospitalizations: This complexity can lead to more hospital admissions, driving up healthcare costs and reducing overall system efficiency.
  • Outdated Hospice System: The current Medicare Hospice Benefit structure creates challenges for both hospice providers delivering optimal care and insurers providing seamless coverage.

Technology-Driven Personalized Care

Tuesday Health tackles these issues with its innovative clinical program powered by a proprietary technology platform, including the “mytuesday” app:

  • Personalized Care Plans: Through the mytuesday app, patients and caregivers can self-report symptoms, enabling personalized care plans delivered by a network of top-tier supportive care providers.
  • Improved Patient Experience: This technology-driven approach ensures patients and families receive the support they need exactly when they need it most.

“We built Tuesday Health to identify and engage patients and caregivers earlier in the course of disease so that we can take proactive, clinically proven measures to address their evolving needs over time, including appropriate transitions to high-quality hospice care when the time is right,” said Dr. Mihir Kamdar, head of care delivery of Tuesday Health and former section head of palliative care at Mass General Hospital. “Our experienced team has tremendous expertise when it comes to meaningful interventions for the seriously ill, and a deep-rooted belief in the importance of modernizing supportive care for patients and their caregivers.”
