– The addition is a huge advantage for people who struggle with medication management and need a more convenient way to refill their prescriptions.
Propeller Health, a digital health company dedicated to the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), today announced that users are now able to access pharmacy services from CVS, Walmart, Kroger and Rite-Aid directly from the Propeller app. In January 2019, Propeller announced the launch of My Pharmacy, an in-app feature that allows users to manage their prescription refills for asthma and COPD and locate a nearby pharmacy from the Propeller app.
My Pharmacy Benefits for Users
Through My Pharmacy, patients will be able to refill prescriptions for in-store pickup at Walgreens pharmacies, locate a nearby Walgreens pharmacy, talk live with a pharmacist through Walgreens Pharmacy Chat and check their Walgreens Balance Rewards™ points, all within the Propeller app.
My Pharmacy launched initially with Walgreens and has now expanded to include CVS, Walmart, Kroger and Rite-Aid, five of the seven largest pharmaceutical providers in the U.S. representing more than 50 percent of total U.S. market share for prescription pharmaceuticals, according to Drug Channels Institute. The update also allows users to select their preferred pharmacy to display in the Records tab of the app. Propeller users can access the newly connected pharmacy services in the app starting this week.
“We know that medication management can be an additional burden for people living with asthma and COPD,” said Greg Tracy, chief technology officer of Propeller Health. “We hope that creating a convenient way to refill prescriptions and locate nearby pharmacies from the Propeller app makes life easier for our users.”
Propeller Background
Propeller is a digital health tool that helps people with asthma or COPD manage their condition in partnership with their doctor. Propeller sensors attach to patients’ existing inhalers and deliver insights on medication use, symptom triggers and environmental factors to the Propeller app on their smartphone, which they can then share with their clinician to help inform their treatment plan. Providers can also access Propeller to monitor their patients’ progress, adjust treatment plans based on objective data and intervene when necessary.
