UMMC Selects SnapMD as Virtual Care Technology Partner

SnapMD, a full-service telehealth technology innovator and solutions provider, announced that the National Center for Telehealth at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has chosen SnapMD’s Virtual Care Management (VCM) software as its system-wide telehealth technology platform. As a telehealth trailblazer that has been providing high-quality health care through virtual visits for over 14 years, UMMC brings deep experience and knowledge to the telehealth marketplace, specifically in remote care focused expertise. This news follows the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recognition for UMMC’s Medical Center as one of two Telehealth Centers of Excellence, the agency’s top award given to programs at public academic medical centers.

The Center for Telehealth connects patients and caregivers to health care providers remotely, in real time, using virtual visits and interactive tools. Using SnapMD’s comprehensive, secure, scalable telehealth platform, UMMC can offer telehealth in more than 35 specialties, and tele-emergency care with emergency departments in 17 rural Mississippi hospitals. In total, the health system connects with more than 200 health care locations across the state, accounting for 500,000 patient visits in 69 of the state’s 82 counties.

“SnapMD is honored to partner with UMMC’s Center for Telehealth. As one of two designated Telehealth Centers of Excellence by HRSA in the country, UMMC brings especially deep experience and knowledge to the table in the broader discipline of digital health and focused expertise in remote care,” noted Dave Skibinski, CEO, SnapMD. “SnapMD designed the VCM full-stack platform with the functionality and scalability needed to deliver virtual care and connect across the care continuum. It is organizations like UMMC that can leverage our VCM platform to its fullest potential. In addition, UMMC’s Center for Telehealth team has become a close and trusted advisory group to our product team helping to ensure that our technology strategy remains on a clinically focused path.”
