Telehealth delivery provider GlobalMed has acquired TreatMD, a Miami, FL-based telehealth startup for an undisclosed sum. TreatMD first introduced the first International platform for Telemedicine referred to as an “On-demand Healthcare Platform” that also combines the management of office visits, in-home visits, insurance reimbursement, E-Prescribing, and mHealth devices and monitoring.
Upon completion of the acquisition, GlobalMed plans to integrate TreatMD’s platform with its existing aggregation and PACS imaging systems to provide a robust offering for telemedicine consults. Telemedicine is experiencing exponential growth and is expected to be worth more than 34 billion by 2020. One of the factors driving this growth is the rapid rise in the telemedicine software market.
“We evaluated many platforms, looked at strategic partnership opportunities, acquisition targets and just building it in-house. TreatMD was the most advanced and unique offering on the market today. TreatMD’s ability to offer a true on-demand ecosystem where choice is put back in the hands of the patient and physician while combining device integration and actual science is where this industry must head,” said Joel E. Barthelemy, CEO of GlobalMed.
