Atos AcquireS Health IT Outsourcing Firm Anthelio Healthcare Solutions for $275M

Global IT company Atos will acquire healthcare IT outsourcing company Anthelio Healthcare Solutions for $275 million in cash to expand the company’s health IT services portfolio in the US market, company officials announced Monday. Anthelio’s end to end health IT solutions include IT infrastructure services, IT applications management, EHR optimization, Patient Engagement, Analytics, and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) including HIM Services, Patient Financial Services and Cancer Registry Services.

The Dallas, TX-based company currently has more than 1,700 healthcare professionals, of which 1,300 are in the U.S and 400 in India. Anthelio generates about US$200 million of annual revenue growing at 8%. As part of the acquisition, Dallas based employees of both Anthelio and Athos will move into a new Irving office that will serve as Atos’ regional headquarters. Anthelio’s CEO Asif Ahman will lead the new healthcare practice in the US under Atos.

The combined organization will support Atos customer’s need to better optimize financial performance, improve the patient care experience, engage patients through state-of-the-art applications and address the increasing demands of security, risk and compliance.

Atos is acquiring Anthelio from Actis, a leading London-based growth markets investment firm, its majority shareholder since November 2010, as well as from McLaren Health Care Corporation, a leading fully integrated health network and the largest customer of Anthelio.

Following this acquisition, Atos will generate a total of $400M in healthcare IT services in North America as well as $600M of backlog with $2.5 billion total overall revenue in North America, its largest geography.

“This is an exciting development for Anthelio and its customers,” said Asif Ahmad, CEO, Anthelio Healthcare Solutions. “Our vision has always been to drive high value for healthcare organizations by solving complex clinical and business problems. Combining Atos’ leadership in global digital services with Anthelio’s leadership in Healthcare Technology and Revenue Cycle Management is unprecedented. This acquisition addresses the many core clinical and financial processes that hospitals and physicians are faced with today”.
